Tangled Webs (Men of Valor #3) By Irene Hannon

Back of the Book

After a disastrous Middle East mission ends his six-year Army Ranger career, Finn McGregor needs some downtime. A peaceful month in the woods sounds like the perfect way to decompress. But peace isn't on the agenda once he crosses paths with publishing executive Dana Lewis, a neighbor who is nursing wounds of her own. Someone seems bent on disrupting her stay in the lakeside cabin she inherited from her grandfather. As Finn and Dana work together to discover who is behind the disquieting pranks, the incidents begin to take on a menacing tone. And when it becomes apparent Dana's foe may have deadly intent, Finn finds himself back in the thick of the action--ready or not.

My Thoughts

I can always trust Irene Hannon to deliver a unique and entertaining novel and Tangled Webs has it all!  We have already met Finn McGregor from the previous books in the Men of Valor series, but this book takes her personality to new depths.  Dana is a complex character with such an inventive back story, it alone would pull you into the book.  While many Hannon novels make you stop and think, Tangled Webs really has you asking the question, What would I have done?  Everything in this novel is original and fresh and worth reading.

I was given this book free from Revell Publishing for my honest review,

The Adventurous One By: Jeanette Lewis

Back of the Book

Taylor Medlin may have taken the billionaire bride pact when she was a teenager at Camp Wallakee, but she wasn’t thinking about that when she married the man of her dreams several years later. And she certainly wasn’t thinking about the pact when she signed the divorce papers after only eighteen months.

Once burned, twice shy, Taylor has sworn off romance until a family emergency pulls her home to Sioux Falls and into the arms of old friend, Lane Carter. But Lane has his own demons and he and Taylor must decide whether the past will bring them together, or tear them apart.

Includes a bonus chapter from The Protective One by Cami Checketts

My Thoughts

While The Adventurous One is a shorter book, it has a powerful message. Jeanette Lewis introduces the characters in an original way that gives you a great sense of not only their personalities, but their back story as well.  Taylor is a kind character who has definitely learned from her past, especially that money can't buy you happiness.  Lane struggles with his past choices and how they have effected his future, but his kind heart and love for Taylor is life changing.  There is a lot of plot to cover in a short amount of pages, but the book never feels rushed.  This is definitely worth reading.
